Sin Kee Chicken Rice

I'm sure many people who like chicken rice would have heard of Sin Kee. It is reputedly one of the better chicken rice stalls in Singapore and I was eager to try it out after almost 10 years since my last visit.

The chicken

$3 gets you a plate of chicken rice with a decent amount of really chilled chicken, something which is common in Hainanese chicken rice stalls, but it did make me feel a little squirmy as I am used to eating heated chicken. Nevertheless, the chicken was very smooth and tender (I believe it being chilled had a part to play as well), probably one of the smoothest chicken that I've eaten in the past 10 years and it almost seemed surreal. The rice was terrible though, with portions of it uncooked and lacking in fragrance and taste.

Rating: 7.5/10

It is sad to note that the chef who had been preparing the chicken for so many years had just left his job owing to ill treatment from the boss. This chef is a personal friend of mine.
